1. External Leakage – A Problem Visible to the Naked Eye
This is the easiest malfunction to diagnose. Oil leaks around the chrome rod (piston rod) during its movement. The most common causes are:

Worn out rod seal assembly: The rubber seals inside the gland harden, wear out, or crack over time due to high oil pressure and temperature.

Damaged wiper seal: This is the outer lip designed to scrape off mud and dust from the piston rod. When damaged, sand gets inside and literally grinds away the main seal.
