1. What are the maximum flow parameters for a CETOP 10 (NG32) solenoid valve?

CETOP 10 (ISO 4401-10 compliant) directional control valves are the largest standardized valves used in heavy industry.

  • Extreme Flow: Thanks to an internal channel diameter of 32 mm (NG32), these valves can handle flow rates of 800 to even 1100 l/min (over one thousand liters of oil per minute!).
  • Operating Pressure: Despite such immense flow, they safely operate at pressures of 315 bar (up to 350 bar in peaks), making them an absolute foundation for high-power systems.
2. Where are such powerful electro-hydraulic distributors most commonly used?

CETOP 10 series valves (e.g., 4WEH32 models) are at the heart of the most demanding and largest industrial installations. They are used, among others, in:

  • Powerful hydraulic presses (e.g., for pressing car bodies in the automotive industry).
  • Large-scale plastic injection molding machines.
  • Metallurgical machinery, rolling mills, and heavy-duty drive systems in steelworks.

3. How to prevent destructive water hammer at flow rates of around 1000 l/min?

The sudden shift of a slider weighing several kilograms and the stoppage of a 1100 l/min flow would generate a shock wave that could rupture the machine's piping. The CETOP 10 series uses two key safety methods:

  • Switching time throttles: A throttle plate mounted under a small pilot valve allows for reducing the speed of the control oil. As a result, the large main spool moves very slowly (switching time can be extended up to several seconds).
  • Spool stroke limiters: Special adjusting screws on the valve's side covers allow for mechanically blocking how far the main spool can extend. This enables precise "trimming" of the maximum flow to the ideal needs of a specific actuator.
4. Where does the pilot valve get its pressure in such a large distributor?

Such a large spool requires significant force to move. In NG32 (CETOP 10) valves, the configuration of control ports X (supply) and Y (return) is crucial.
Due to enormous pressure drops and powerful impacts in the main working system of heavy machinery, external control is absolutely recommended. A small pilot solenoid valve on top must be supplied from its own independent and stable oil circuit (e.g., from a separate gear pump) via port X, and the return is directed directly to the tank via port Y.

5. Can I replace an old CETOP 10 valve from another brand with a BRhydraulic model?

Yes. The CETOP 10 (ISO 4401-10) designation guarantees that the spacing of the powerful mounting bolts, the diameters of the ports (P, T, A, B, X, Y), and the arrangement of the O-rings on the connection plate are standardized.
