1. What does the CETOP 03 standard mean and is it the same as NG6?

Yes, these names are used interchangeably in the hydraulics industry.

  • CETOP 03 (or more precisely, ISO 4401-03) defines the standardized spacing of the four mounting holes on the bottom of the valve and the position of the oil ports (P, T, A, B).
  • NG6 (Nominal Size 6) means that the nominal diameter of the flow channels inside the valve is 6 mm.
    Any valve marked as CETOP 03 or NG6, regardless of the manufacturer, will fit the same universal size 6 manifold.
2. What are the maximum flow and pressure for CETOP 03 valves?

Despite their compact size, NG6 solenoid valves offered by BRhydraulic are efficient components:

  • Maximum flow: They work optimally in systems with pump capacities up to 60-80 l/min. Above this value, we recommend switching to the larger CETOP 05 (NG10) standard.
  • Maximum pressure: They withstand operating pressure up to 315 bar (and even 350 bar in reinforced versions) on ports P, A and B. The return pressure (T) is usually limited to approx. 160-210 bar.
3. How to choose the slider scheme: E, G, H, or J?

The choice of spool depends on how the machine should behave in the neutral position (when no current is supplied to the coil):

  • Spool E (Closed): All ports are blocked. The actuator is locked in place. The most common choice.
  • Spool G (Relieving): Connects the pressure port P to the tank port T. The pump operates "unloaded" without resistance, but the actuator is locked.
  • Spools H and J (Motor): Connect the working ports A and B to the tank port T. They allow the actuator to "float" or the hydraulic motor to freewheel after power is cut off.
4. What coil voltage should I choose for my circuit?

The coil voltage must match the electrical system of your machine:

  • 12V DC and 24V DC (Direct Current): Standard for mobile hydraulics – agricultural tractors, loaders, construction machinery, car transporters, and forklifts.
  • 230V AC (Alternating Current): Standard for stationary hydraulics – workshop presses, hydraulic power packs, machine tools, and production lines powered from the mains.
    Tip: In CETOP 03 valves, the coils are interchangeable. You can easily change the valve's control voltage by purchasing only the coil.
5. Why does the solenoid valve click, but the actuator doesn't move?

If you hear the characteristic solenoid click, it means that the electrical system is working, but the problem is hydraulic. The most common causes in CETOP 03 spool valves are:

  • Stuck spool: Even the smallest contamination (metal shavings, a piece of a seal) in the oil can physically jam the precisely fitted spool inside the body. The system needs to be cleaned.
  • Excessive back pressure: If there is too much pressure in the T return line, the force of the solenoid coil may be insufficient to move the spool.
